Poetry Tea Time is wildly popular among homeschoolers, but I found it overwhelming because of all the beautiful table displays I kept seeing on Instagram. We finally gave it a try, and it’s been a huge hit in our homeschool routine for several years now! If you’re feeling intimidated, check out this post about our first poetry tea time! This year, I’m excited to share some of our favorite poetry books for kids. We LOVE seasonal books, so it’s only natural that we include seasonal poetry books for our poetry tea times. Here are some of our favorite winter poetry books for kids.

Sing a Song of Seasons: A Nature Poem for Each Day of the Year -Yes this covers all the seasons, which makes it a great book to have on hand all year long! We love to use this book for memory work with younger kids because many of the poems are short.
Julie Andrews’ Treasury for all Seasons is another seasonal poetry book that we keep handy all year. We read a few of these poems during every poetry tea time. My kids especially like that it’s a collection of poems put together by Mary Poppins!
Flower Fairies of the Winter – This is a tiny book measuring only about 4″x6″, but we love the Flower Fairy books. We’ve had the Complete Book of Flower Fairies book for several years and it’s always a favorite. If you’re also a nature loving family (like we are!), you’ll want to add this to your library. Each flower has it’s own special fairy and poem.
Snow, Snow: Winter Poems for Children by Jane Yolen with photography by Jason Stemple – My kids love these poems AND the beautiful photography. Living in the southwest desert, these are scenes they don’t usually see. We love beautiful illustrations, but real photographs really bring the winter landscape to life for my kiddos.
Winter Bees and Other Poems of the Cold – Learn about animals and plants in the winter with these fun poems! Along side each poem is a bit about how the animal or plant survives in the winter cold.
