We have been stuck at home for most of the last three weeks while two of our bathrooms are being remodeled. A common misperception of homeschoolers is that we’re at home all of the time. Now, that we’ve had three weeks of just that…well…we’re going a little stir crazy. We are definitely not the “stay home” type of family. My husband was able to stay with the construction crew for a day last week so the girls and I took off for a picnic at Floyd Lamb Park with some friends. The weather is starting to really warm up so it was a great location for an escape out into nature. There are not too many places in the desert with such huge shade trees and a cool breeze.
I didn’t really think much about it so it came as a surprise but this is an excellent time to visit Floyd Lamb. We saw a lot of spring babies! Many of the animals in the park are very used to people so we were able to get quite close. Here are some pictures of the animals we saw.
Yes, there are a lot of geese at this park. They are definitely not afraid of people. Instead of them being afraid of us, it’s usually our girls that are afraid of the geese getting too close. Even the ones with babies didn’t mind the girls getting right up to them.
The rabbits were the most shy of the animals we saw. We were able to see the babies but not long enough for me to snap a picture before the girls scared them away.
The peacocks hang out near the first parking area in the park. For some reason, we have always gone to the further end of the park. This was the first time the girls saw them. I think this will be our new starting point when we come back. The peacocks were a big hit.
