One of the best ways to prevent the dreaded summer slide is to surround our kids with a huge variety of high quality and engaging books. Summer is a great time to kick reading into high gear because many of our other obligations taper off for a bit – leaving more time to enjoy more books! Hit up your library, favorite local bookstore, and even garage sales to fill your bookshelves and book baskets with books that will take your kids on many adventures this summer!
Summer Reading Challenge
Challenge your kids to read for 30 minutes a day every day this summer. Our favorite time to read is during breakfast and lunch. I usually read aloud to the kids during breakfast and we all grab a book to read quietly during lunch. Making reading a habit during these times is a great way to encourage our kids to read more!
