And just like that, another year is gone! It’s been interesting to look back at all that happened in 2020. Even though it’s been a rough year in some ways, looking back showed us that we actually had a pretty great year. I’m excited for a some new things that we have in store for our family and for my blog. Thanks so much for coming along on this journey! One Simple Trick to Grow Lots of Melons – This is always a top post every year because it’s a fun way to get kids involved in gardening AND it’s a crucial step to growing lots of melons, cucumbers, and squash. You’ll also find tips on how to get your garden off to a great start with healthy plants and soil.
How to Build a Worm Farm – Another great project for kids! This is my favorite way to compost our kitchen scraps and produce our own nutrient-rich compost for our garden. I bring a simple portable worm farm out to local events to teach others about starting their own easy worm farms like the one in this post. The kids are always the most excited to play with the worms and learn about worm composting!
How to Plan a Morning Basket – This is such an awesome way to introduce kids to a wide variety of books through read aloud time. It’s been a part of our homeschool routine for years, and my kids still love it even now that they’re older. Be sure to grab the FREE Morning Basket Planner in that post!
2nd Grade Homeschool Curriculum Choices – 2020 was certainly a huge year for people who were searching for how to get started with homeschooling! Each year I put together a list of resources for each grade that we’ll be doing. 2nd grade was the most popular this year, but you can also check out our 1st grade, 3rd grade, 4th grade, 5th grade, and 6th grade curriculum choices. Keep in mind, though, that grade levels are kinda tricky when homeschooling. It may be a good starting point but don’t get too hung up on grade levels. Kids are often doing work from multiple levels for different subjects.

Sonlight A versus BookShark A Homeschool Curriculum Choices – This was the first Sonlight vs. BookShark post that I did, and they all continue to be very popular year after year. I update them every year when the new catalogs are released. As of the writing of this post (Jan ’21) they are all current, and I’ll update them in the spring with the new catalogs. This was one of my first struggles when picking a homeschool curriculum, and I’m so happy that these comparison posts have helped other new homeschoolers!
